“Islamic Bookbinding”, which was authored by Dr. Mostafa Rostami and several researchers at Malaysian Islamic Arts Museum has been internationally published in quarto size and full color, funded by Malaysian government. The book, which has been published in English and is very exquisite, is the result of a one-year research done by the researchers of the museum in collaboration with Dr. Rostami.
As it was previously reported last fall, Dr Rostami was part of the Malaysian research team whose project was entitled “Scrutinizing the Exquisite Book Covers of Manuscripts of the Islamic Era of the Malaysian Islamic Arts Museum.” He was invited last summer as a guest researcher and author by the aforementioned museum, which is one of the prestigious Islamic museums of Southeast Asia, to conduct research and to perform technical and artistic analysis on the exquisite covers of Islamic book extant at the museum. The field work was conducted in the Museum, but the library studies and data analysis, alongside with the final editing of the book, lasted until the spring of 2017. Finally, in May 2017, the book was unveiled in the International Exhibition of Islamic Manuscripts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It is worth mentioning that “Islamic Bookbinding”, which is the second international book authored by Dr Rostami, is available for purchase for 145 Malaysian Ringgits (about 34 USD) worldwide.
